You now have a unique perspective as a teacher to speak about where teenagers get their information. You always speak truth with such a clear and uncomplicated voice.

You're very kind. I'm glad it reads like my voice is uncomplicated. The brain that stacks the paragraphs is something of a haunted house.

I got a Trumper to agree with me that it's much easier to access porn on phones than in books. He actually said he didn't understand why"they" (the GOP) is so focused on books.

The GOP and Christian conservatives believe schools and libraries are trying to convert straight children into gay and trans children. They are using the power of government to force their value system onto other people in the name of “protecting the children.” Less than 1% of people in the country are trans. The GOP will weaponize the legislature against this small group of people. Yet the CDC reports the No. 1 cause of death for people ages 1 through 19 is firearm-related injuries. Even the thought of a restriction infringes on the Constitutional freedoms of the individual. We trust almost anyone with a tool designed to kill. But when it comes to books, individuals — even trained professionals such as teachers and librarians — cannot be trusted to make decisions on their own. All politicians claim to protect freedom, but they are, at best, deluded, and, at worst, liars. The only freedom they want is for everyone to be as their cult believes they should be.

I find talking to most legislators to be like kicking an ironwood tree. I might make an impression, but I’ll probably shatter my tibia before anything if substance happens.

You’re right: it’s more likely for kids to find porn on their phones than in books.

And your last sentence is spot on.
